i've always kind of considered every day to be a near death experience. i mean, not to 1. think i'm some philosopher or 2. be overly morose but really every day we are fighting gravity just to stand up, so the fact that we can manage through a day without a meteor hitting us or something should be considered amazing. i think that it is good to stop and realize these things occasionally. it's easy to get caught up in complaining and consuming and everything else that comes along with being a modern human being. we don't get chased by animals or come close to hypothermia on a regular basis like our ancestors. so i am thankful that i got some perspective smacked into me when i hit the front of a honda accord last night and then the wet pavement of franklin boulevard. i spent an entire year riding like an idiot in a way more populated city. for some reason this didn't happen to me until i came out here. a new place. all alone. a place where i've been trying to gain perspective and that event really made that perspective hit home (parden the pun).i'm glad i was wearing a helmet.
